File Sales Forum Payment Changes
Due to IMVUs new changes, as of December 1ST, 2015 the Files Sales Forum now only allows payments via Paypal or other similar platforms.
If you have not been alerted of the changes to IMVU policy, please read about it here
For those of you that do not want to read or do not understand,
Basically IMVU Does not care if you sell files AS LONG AS IMVU and IMVU Credits are not used in the transaction.
Using Credits/IMVU to sell files you risk the investigation and even loss of both parties accounts.
To make this transition easier, the staff will be putting together a list of acceptable payment forms soon, as well as a tutorial on how to create and use a paypal account for those of you without knowledge of how to do so.
We will give users a week to adjust their shops accordingly to these new changes, and while we appologize for this inconvenience, we will begin locking and removing shops after that time frame that do not fit within this new regulation for the security of the forum and our users.
If your shop gets locked past this time frame, simply message a staff member to have it unlocked so you can update and re-open.
I will again stress this is only for the safety of our users, it is in no way intended to be malicious towards any one or group of users.
If you would like your shop closed because of this, please request that Here to keep this thread clean for discussion/questions.
Thank you,
From the FSF Staff

Hi,
As stated above, You have a week to update your shop, in some way shape or fashion, however you have an indefinite time period to update your image previews although its best to do so as soon as possible.

We are not sure when we will release the list or tutorial however we hope to do so soon, so everyone can transition to the new payment method(s) more quickly and more easily.

I personally think that as long as you state that some of the images are older and give prices in cash above or under them all should be ok.

When did IMVU announce this? Is it in a forum somewhere? And do you know why they are doing this?

Yes, it is an official statement. Here is the forum post - click here.
Why they are doing this?
First is to eliminate chances to rig the payouts system by using sticker payments. Art and badges aren't affected yet but textures and meshes are.
Second reason is because IMVU.com has never been an official file selling site like turbosquid for example. File selling sites have their own ToS and copyright clauses that differ from IMVU's standard ToS. Added to this, IMVU staff never liked being involved in file selling, especially when unhappy customers want their crs back. In 2010, a year or two after file selling began, IMVU inc. officially closed the file selling part of their forums because of this.

oh wow. I wasn't here in 2010 so I didn't know that. Do you know if this is this negatively affecting IMVU's income? (We all know they're about the money )

It saves them money, yes. However, if users start using PayPal it'll be easier for both sides (seller and buyer) since there is an official way to ask back for your money if unhappy with the service (hopefully people don't abuse it though). Also, IMVU is excluded as the middle man so both sides get more for their money/files.

ahaha, i think thats putting them on everyones shit list, trying to corner people into buying credits, but if all else, you can always open a custom hair/skin/turtle shop to earn the difference.
Re: File Sales Forum Payment Changes
I actually have never used paypal in this way. I know I give my email to paypal but I heard I get some kind of card in the mail? Can anyone briefly explain that process? I'm not comfortable at all buying from imvu's site. I've had big problems before.

Re: File Sales Forum Payment Changes
When you register at PayPal you will be asked to add a bank account or card (debit or credit card). It's ok to have 00.00 on PayPal itself. Adding a card will be $2.50 if I remember right (will charge your card or bank account). After that you can pay with your PayPal balance or through PayPal with a card/bank account (explanation for second - this way there's no direct card or bank account numbers use).

Re: File Sales Forum Payment Changes
See, since they are enforcing this rule...how can they possibly differentiate credit transfers, for like files sales to custom products? or even just transferring credits to one account to the other? (I'm not saying keep using credit transfers for file sales...just confuses me)Lapin wrote:Sapphirex wrote:What is annoying me about this is for the first time since re-sellers got shut down...I will have to actually buy credits -.-'

Also don't worry, you can rely on me for all your custom turtle needs

I doubt they can tell the difference, however if they even suspect it they will likely go out of their way to cause problems for you just for the hell of it. And added to the fact you can't prove a negative they will likely just up and ban anyone suspected.
Also edited your post rather than quoting.. Fixed it, I swear I shouldn't post when I just get up
Re: File Sales Forum Payment Changes
Does this mean we can no longer pay for textures with IMVU credits? That's my own way of being able to pay for files on the rare occasion that I do buy them. In real life I literally have not a cent to spend on files.

Yes, due to IMVU policy changes file sales are recommended to be now paid only with real money using PayPal. If using credits or stickers, both parties involved (buyer and seller) put their accounts at risk and can be disabled.

We can't even just send credits through give and just have the files emailed to us still?

IMVU has stated to not use the site as an ATM. As long as payments are done offsite, file selling is ok with them though.
